Point Guard MC 9005

Description:

Point Guard MC 9005 is a chlorinated heavy-duty soluble oil designed for the most difficult machining and grinding applications. This product provides superior sump life by eliminating the growth of bacteria and fungus. “Monday Morning Stink” will be eliminated without the use of additional sump-side biocides or additives. Point Guard MC 9005 is compatible for use on ferrous and most non-ferrous metals, including aluminum and brass. It is not recommended for use on magnesium, or its alloys. There is a combination of synergistic additives that provide excellent corrosion protection, low foam, hard water stability, and lubrication characteristics. It will not damage or remove paint, and is mild on operator’s hands. This product can be used for milling, drilling, turning, tapping, boring, gear hobbing, broaching, and grinding applications.

Benefits:

  • SUPERIOR TOOL LIFE & PART FINISH

  • EXTREMELY BACTERIA & FUNGUS RESISTANT

  • LOW ODOR

  • VERY LOW FOAMING

  • EXCELLENT CORROSION PROTECTION

  • DOES NOT REMOVE PAINT OR DAMAGE MACHINES

  • EXTREMELY HARD WATER STABLE

  • NITRITE & PHENOL FREE

Lubricating Function:

Point Guard MC 9005 is designed to operate over a wide range of temperature dependent applications. The primary lubricating function lies upon activation of an extreme pressure agent to form a temporary halide complex that reduces the coefficient of friction between the tool and part. It also contains refined petroleum oil, and synergistic additives, that provide additional lubrication.

Monitoring Point Guard MC 9005:

The mixed coolant concentration can be monitored by refractive index, using a refractometer. The degrees Brix is equal to percent concentration.

Mixing Instructions:

For most applications, Point Guard MC 9005 concentrate should be mixed with water to an operating range of 5-10% (20:1- 10:1) for machining and 3-5% (33:1-20:1) for grinding. Always add the coolant concentrate to water and not water to the concentrate. It is best if water, then coolant concentrate, are poured into a separate container and mixed vigorously prior to adding to the system. Point Guard MC 9005 is compatible for mixing using any pre-mix or proportioning type equipment. The sump life of this coolant, as with any other, will be greatly enhanced if charged to a clean, bacteria-free system.
